Every ten minutes, another child or adult is expected to die from leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. This statistic represents nearly 145 people each day, or six people every hour.

Funk Lab has a personal stake in this particular event; my baby sister is fighting for her life in the battle against Leukemia. On April 16, 2010, 4 year-old Maria Teresa was diagnosed with LLA a form of blood cancer otherwise known as Leukemia. Maria is in pre- school and since April has been unable to leave the hospital, this brave little girl has had to endure the relentless treatment of chemo therapy and until recently was allowed to go home for the first time in two months. Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults under the age of 20.
Every 4 minutes one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
An estimated 139,860 people in the United States will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2009. New cases of leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma account for 9.5 percent of the 1,479,350 new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States this year*.
