Biography
The space of music encompasses the connection between the DJ and the dancefloor. The DJ’s role is to occupy the same musical space as the listener and dancer and close the gap between music and movement. The result is an experience that transcends the act of being a spectator and encourages a spiritual dialogue. Omar’s live sets and mixes are representative of this relationship. With a focus on the deeper side of house music, his track selection always falls on the deeper and more obscure end of the spectrum yet still manages to fulfill the desire to keep the dancefloor immersed in soulful energy.
Omar’s interest in the deeper side of house stems from the analog and warm sound of house music production coupled with his love for all things soulful, vintage, and timeless. With a genuine love for all genres of music that range from jazz, soul, downtempo, lounge and electronica, his mixes posses an eclectic feel that takes the listener and dancer on a journey to the deepest layers of house music. This is evident in mix sessions featured in his regularly updated deep house radio show Soulful Living Sessions which focuses on the pure deepness of house. Omar has also been blessed with the opportunity to play alongside some of the finest DJs in Southern California such as DJ ALA, Henry Diaz, Wayne Lyons and Joplin as well as being given the honor of opening up for world renowned DJs and producers such as MR. V, Will ‘REELSOUL’ Rodriguez, and house legend DANNY KRIVIT. Omar can be heard live every Friday at one of San Diego's longest running house music venues Candelas Lounge where he is a resident DJ.
